I assure this is far from what any of the associations wanted to occur and the league has worked hard along the way to try to have games for our teams. However, it is not feasible to continue the season with the uncertainty of if/when games will be able to be played and in a manner that is safe and rewarding for our players and their families. We sincerely appreciate your patience and support of ESA and commitment to your players this year, which has been challenging in so many ways for everyone. We all look forward to and hope for a significantly better year in 2021!! Stay safe and be well! ESA Cancels Fall 2020 Soccer Season ESA Players, Coaches & Families After much discussion regarding the upcoming soccer season, the ESA board voted on August 11 to cancel the ESA Fall 2020 soccer season for both our WCSL and Little Kickers programs. While this was not the ideal or most desirable decision, it is one made with no shortage of considerations and sincerity for the best interest of our ESA players, families and larger community. The safety and well-being of our players, families and community is of utmost importance and while we wish we could all be playing soccer this fall, it simply isn't feasible at this time. Though we had hoped that conditions would change to make playing games in St. Louis County a safe and viable option, that is not the case at this time. The logistics of running a program with so much uncertainty due to the ongoing pandemic, regulatory guidelines, and school closures are beyond challenging to ensure a safe and positive experience. The likelihood of starting and stopping a season this fall is not fair to the players, coaches, families and association and we do not wish to put that burden on anyone. ESA is legally based in St Louis County, where games and scrimmages remain prohibited, with no indication that this will be lifted in time to administer a soccer season. We truly want each player to have a positive and memorable experience in youth sports this year, but regrettably ESA is not able to ensure that this season. While we are not playing this season, the other WCSL member organizations (Pacific Soccer Association, Union Soccer Association, and St Clair Soccer Association) do intend to play and will be accepting teams and players until 5pm Monday, August 17 h . Contact information for the other associations is available at www.westcountysoccer.com Any registration credits on file from the Spring 2020 baseball/softball season will remain honored for 2021. We look forward to an amazing and rewarding season next year and hope that all remain safe and well during these times.
